Shenandoah Woods

This is the view from around the side of B-side of Shenandoah Hall.  Shenandoah Hall is the furthest dorm from Festival in the Skyline area, so in this area you can see the woods.  Some students stand or sit in this spot to smoke cigarettes, because it is hidden away from anyone seeing them when walking out of a dorm or e-hall.  Some people, however, enjoy coming here to sit and talk on the phone.  This is because this spot is the last spot that the sun reaches during the evening time.  Because the buildings in Skyline are so tall, they block the sun as it sets.  At this spot however, people can come to sit in the sun, and possibly watch it set.  The campus designers designed a concrete platform with a light above it right outside of a room on B-side.  Many people have flicked their cigarettes onto the grass right around the area, which is not particularly aesthetically pleasing or clean, however the beauty of the scene beyond it outweighs the unpleasantness of the immediate surroundings.  This area will shape my memories of JMU because this is the spot I go to sit and unwind, or call my friends and family from back home.  Particularly since I am living on B-side of Shenandoah Hall next year, I will be coming back to this spot often.
